Early Light

In eerie light
Of winter’s dawn
Darkness
Is torn asunder

Trees’ silhouettes
‘Gainst the cold sky
A stillness
We should ponder

The quiet moments
Of the morn
Before birds’ wings
Will flutter

Then comes
The colour,
Pink on grey
A masterpiece of nature

And I give thanks
For the glorious day
Another,
Filled with wonder.
