Giving Up

Once, I was vital
A thin frame
A straight back
Spark in my eye

I took on the world
I fought for what’s right
I stood out
Above the rest

I was strong,
In body, mind,
And spirit ~
Nothing would stop me

Cruel life
Has taken its toll
Over the years
I’ve lost my soul

Become a shell
Of my former self
Crumpled in a chair
Bent with age

My complaints
Fall on deaf ears
Is no one

I am not old,
Or am I?
I still have value..
Or do I?

I can’t move
I won’t eat
I’m sick
I’m tired
