Silver hair
A soft and gentle voice.

Always helpful
Always there,
His quietness a choice.

Never a retort,
Not one to argue much,
His opinion he'll not foist.

On a rare occasion,
A glass of wine in hand,
He'll speak in measured tones,

Careful in word,
His thoughts well formed,
A mindful reply he hones.

What is striking,
Most of all,
Is something in his eyes;

True kindness,
Selfless love;
The wrinkles of the wise.
