The Drumming Rain

Rain pattering on the roof, a soothing sound,
Somehow bringing stillness.
Dance while raindrops fall all around,
Turn up your placid face toward,
As each drop finds its mark,
Landing softly on the ground.

What is the rain to us, you ask?
'Tis nurture for our soils,
A drink for every tiny creature,
Roots soak it in and stretch and grow,
Rain is the earth's sweet, generous teacher.

Never mind the gloomy clouds,
Ignore the thunderous shakes,
Fear not the lightning's flash,
The rain all things sustains,
Washing away all of our pain.
