After the Rain

Ambling, with no destination in mind,
I walked in the rain,
Drops lightly falling on my face,
The cool air a welcome respite
After days of heat

I looked for the small things
And found beauty everywhere;
Raindrops clinging gingerly
To delicate petals,
Glistening jewels atop blades of grass

A bumble bee clumsily balanced
On a bloom weighing less than she,
Tiny morning glories shut tight,
Not yet wanting to wake...
And music filled my ears.

What joy I found, walking there,
Along the side of the road...
Nowhere special, yet simply uncommon;
And despite the dark clouds,
My spirit was lifted again.
